~ RECREATION ~
The city of Houghton Lake, Michigan has numerous restaurants and bars located around
the perimeter of the lake. Whether you are looking for unique souvenirs
or a new place to dine, we have many locally owned businesses with everything
from wind chimes to ahi tuna.
Houghton Lake has a historic movie theatre, built in 1941 to look like a
hunter's chalet. The one of a kind theatre boasts over 100 trophy animals from
all over the United States. Their main attractions include an elk with a 6'
spread, a moose with a 5' spread, and a 27 point whitetail buck! Tickets are
6.00 for adults, and 4.00 for children 11 and under. The theatre also offers a
cry room which allows people to watch a movie with their children, but not
bother other patrons.
There are local golf courses for adults, and plenty of putt putt for the
young and young at heart.
If you desire to keep up with your daily work out regimen, Houghton Lake
has a wonderful 24 hour gym. Passes are available for a small daily fee
through our office.
During winter months, Houghton Lake offers plenty of fun. Snowmobile
and ATV trails are legally accessible directly from our resort. Due to the
lake depth, ice fishing is available the better part of winter also. Don't
forget to plan your trip with your family to Northern Michigan's largest
winter festival, Tip Up Town
, during the end of January annually. There are
free carnival and pony rides, games and cash prizes for everyone (Badge
required for entry).
